I want to honor my father and mother on Memorial Day. My father, Jack Zimmerman, was a Pharmacists Mate 1st class in the US Navy. He was assigned to Hawaii, to Oahu, the hospital that sits next to Pearl Harbor. My mother worked in civil service at Ford Island, in Pearl Harbor, with the US Navy.
Both my parents were there when Pearl Harbor was hit by the Japanese, December 7, 1941. My father was on duty at the hospital that morning. My mother was asleep in their bed. A Japanese Zero went roaring down the road, strafing her neighborhood. She had a bullet pass just above the headboard of the bed where she was sleep.

That day, my parents helped all the heroes who were caught off guard by that horrific attack on battleship row, next to Ford Island. If it hadn’t of happened on a Sunday, my mother would have been on Ford Island, in one of the hangars, working as a secretary.

I grew up with the story of Pearl Harbor from a very different perspective than most of the Great Generation and Baby Boomer Generation remember. I have the blood of the battle in my DNA. And I never forget what they did that day, the sights, the sounds, the nauseating smells, the diving Japanese fighters like hornets swarming over Pearl Harbor.
It’s no wonder I grew up and at age 18, went into the US Navy to follow in my father’s footsteps. My mother’s brother, Vinton Cramer, served in WW2, US Army, was a paratrooper and dropped in over France to do his duty.

US Navy boot camp photo of me. I followed in my father’s footsteps and paid my service to my country, as he and so many other of our family, had done in past wars. My war was Vietnam. And it’s no wonder that later on? I became a writer and I created the first military romance, Captive of Fate, 1983, Silhouette Special Edition. I have gone on from that day to the present, writing about our heroic men and women in 185 books, since then. And will continue to do so until it’s my time to cross over. Our military is 1% of our nation. They give the other 99% their freedom. Let’s honor their sacrifices, as well as their family’s sacrifices on this one day of the year. Memorial Day is NOT a holiday. It was created as “Remembrance Day” to honor those who died serving their country.
Let us remember those of our family, both on our mother and father’s side, of the service they gave to our country to keep us all free on this one day out of the entire year.

NEW YORK TIMES article featuring: Lindsay McKenna, Chris Keniston and Susan Stoker has arrived!!
With Romance Novels Booming, Beefcake Sells, but It Doesn’t Pay
This corner of the book world is red hot and among the most innovative, with e-books and apps, and it needs a steady stream of fresh-faced cover models.
By LAURA M. HOLSON
MARCH 30, 2016

Jason Baca, model for Lindsay McKenna’s HOLD MY HEART, is on the front page of the New York Times!
In early January, 2016, Lindsay McKenna, Chris Keniston and Susan Stoker embarked on a journey with SAVED BY A SEAL, an 3-book “first in series” anthology with the focus of giving all proceeds earned to america’svetdog.org. We wanted to give back to our military vets. We each took a “first-in-series” book and donated it to our anthology. These all romantic suspense. It is only 99 cents and our whole focus was doing this for this vet charity. On 2.6.16, we put the anthology up on all major platforms except Google.

This may be the one and only time our names are ever mentioned in a New York Times article ! Now isn’t this just too cool? And it’s for such a great cause: helping our vets. The three of us couldn’t be prouder. Plus, Laura Holson, the reporter who wrote the piece, was VERY kind in putting up the info on the charity. She didn’t have to do that—but bless her, too.

SBAS is our anthology and ALL proceeds earned from sales of it go straight to http://www.americasvetdogs.org. Be a part of this win-win situation! Our military vets deserve our help.
Read down to the part about the making of a cover and find Chris Keniston and myself, Lindsay McKenna — we worked jointly on the cover. Susan Stoker, in the meantime, was on an ocean cruise, unavailable, so the task fell to us to create it without her valuable input. We chose Jason Baca as our model. Tammy Seidick of http://www.TammySeidickDesigns.com, took our direction and did a fabulous job. We made a good team. Chris should be lauded for making the cover what it looks like in the final presentation — I just put in ideas, suggestions here and there ;-). We almost forgot to put the dog tags on Jason—that was my biggest add to the cover, haha.
We all think it’s a great cover!
Fingers crossed the publicity gets more money into the service dog program for disabled veterans ! Remember for only 99 cents to tell all your friends ! All proceeds from the sale of Saved By A SEAL go to http://www.americasvetdogs.org, our charity that will receive all that it makes so that some deserving vet will get one of these wonderfully trained dogs to help her or him in their daily life.

Please SHARE. If you haven’t picked up a copy of our anthology for 99 cents—do so. You won’t be sorry. And all your money goes for a dog for a vet. It’s a win-win, no matter what way you parse it!

This is a non-profit charity that trains service dogs for our military vets. Your 99 cents can help us purchase a service dog for a vet. We need your help and support.
Those of you who love to support our military vets who have sacrificed so much for all of us, can use your help.
Just 99 cents and you not only are adding to the amount to buy a service dog for a vet, but you also get three great ebooks by three wonderful story tellers: Lindsay McKenna, Chris Keniston and Susan Stoker.

Support our vets. We three authors have given our own money to put this book, SAVED BY A SEAL, together. We receive NOTHING monetarily from it. All proceeds go to http://www.vetdogs.org
Nowadays? .99 cents doesn’t seem to go very far. But you know what? It can help buy a service dog for a man or woman who desperately needs that wonderful animal in their life to help them make their life a little easier.

Hello Dear Readers!
First of all, Happy Valentine’s Day!!

Fabio, darling model of the romance covers during the 1980’s and 1990’s, before he retired, showed up on a total of 460 romance covers in our romance industry! An amazing amount!

Fabio (left), darling of the romance cover models has been replaced by Jason Aaaron Baca (right)

How synchronistic that Jason Aaron Baca now wears the crown as King of the Cover Models for having the most on romance book covers: 461. Fabio, darling decades ago, had 460. Congratulations, Jason!

Jason Aaron Baca now wears the crown for appearing on the most romance covers in our Industry 2.14.2016.
In 2016 a very popular cover model is Jason Baca from Saratoga California , just broke Fabio’s long-standing record. On 2.10.16, the San Francisco Chronicle did an article on how Jason is now THE top romance cover model in our Romance Industry!
http://www.sfchronicle.com/style/article/Saratoga-man-now-top-romance-cover-model-6822011.php
And something for Lindsay McKenna, Chris Keniston and Susan Stoker to celebrate is their anthology SAVED BY A SEAL, was Jason’s 461st book cover!! We were shocked to find this out, and the synchronicity couldn’t have been sweeter because their anthology of first-in-series books was an effort to help a wounded vet receive a service dog to help him or her make their daily life a little easier. Jason’s father was in the Vietnam war and we honor his service as well. It makes this book cover sweeter for all the above reasons.

Lindsay served in the U.S. Navy as a meteorologist in the air wing. Susan Stoker was an Army wife and Chris has a deep, abiding respect for our military personnel and the sacrifices they make for our great country.
Jason has done 461 romance covers breaking Fabio’s record. Why should I care you ask? Guess whose cover is number 461? That’s right. SAVED BY A SEAL is the cover that broke Fabio’s record!
The authors of SAVED BY A SEAL, sure hope this sells more books for the Disabled Vets ! – I think it’s rather cool that a charity anthology romance book cover broke Fabio’s record! Even better? All the proceeds for their book go to America’s vetdogs.org!
Buying our book for .99 cents, all ‘first-in-series’ books, have all proceeds going to vetdogs.org to help buy a service dog for a deserving wounded military vet.

ROMANCE COVER MODEL JASON AARON BACA BREAKS FABIO’S RECORD of 460 COVERS!

Jason Aaron Baca poses for the San Francisco Chronicle after breaking Fabio’s cover model record of 460. He has just surpassed Fabio with his 461st book cover: Saved by a SEAL by Lindsay McKenna, Chris Keniston and Susan Stoker! Congratulations, Jason!
Saved by a SEAL by Lindsay McKenna, Chris Keniston and Susan Stoker is his 461st cover!!!

The San Francisco Chronicle celebrates Jason’s incredible record of 461 romance covers!
Lindsay McKenna, Chris Keniston, and Susan Stoker want to celebrate Jason Aaron Baca’s momentous accomplishment by breaking Fabio’s cover record! We couldn’t be prouder of him (he’s a very nice guy). We want you to know that as authors of SAVED BY A SEAL, which is Jason’s 461st cover (the book that broke Fabio’s record of 460 book covers) that you might be interested in the ‘story behind the story’ about this book.
To get the full story, go to the San Francisco Chronicle, 2.10.16 evening edition:
http://www.sfchronicle.com/style/article/Saratoga-man-now-top-romance-cover-model-6822011.php
The three of us want to give back to our military men and women who are suffering from PTSD. We chose http://www.vetdogs.org, a 501 non-profit charity who trains service dogs for our vets who need support. ALL the money from SAVED BY A SEAL goes directly to this charity and NOT to us.
We want to thank the San Francisco Chronicle for being a part in this wonderful, heartfelt mission of ours (I’m a US Navy vet, Susan Stoker was an Army wife for over a decade and Chris Keniston is a super patriot who believes in helping our wounded vets). This was a mission of heart and supporting our brave vets. Jason’s father was a Vietnam vet, too, by the way.
So, we find this a wonderful symphony of synchronicity with an HEA–happily ever after–for our charity. For .99 cents, your subscribers can download a copy and know that the money is going to http://www.vetdog.org. I can’t think of a nicer, more wonderful celebration for everyone involved.
By purchasing the .99 cent anthology, SAVED BY A SEAL, you are helping us to get a service dog for a military vet. Be part of this circling of giving from our hearts.

Please SHARE this with friends and family! Thank you.
